About Manchester At War
Anything pertaining directly to Greater Manchester's experience of war, including World Wars I and II - and perhaps the Cold War.
Especially welcome are surviving relics such as air raid shelters and signs for them, pillboxes and bunkers, and any remaining signs of damage from bombing. (Sometimes, this is subtle - it can be simply a change in a building that looked quite different before the war.) Archive material, then and now comparisons are also very welcome.
Also applicable to the group are war memorials, though they should be relevant to the Manchester theme in some way.
Please note that we interpret "war" literally. Material in which "war" is used in a metaphorical sense, such as the "war on drugs", "war on crime", "Class war", etc, will be deleted.
