About traditional Male Hat (Europe)
This is a group solely for native Old World European male hats
The European male had sported some superb head gear since antiquity: fur hats, military hats, soft woolen and cotton hats, berrets, basques, traditional ethnic and ceremonial hats used for special occasions (weddings, Sundays, religious celebrations), straw hats even.
Since globalization an invasion of North (and even South) American hats have appeared on the scene - their place is in OTHER groups:
NO-Nos to:
1. baesball caps
2. Cowboy hats
3. Sombreros
and the like
NO-NOS to head-protective gear:
4. Motorbike head gear and hard top sports gear, or similar
5. Modern bisycle head-protective gear OUT
6. post 1918 military hats OUT (No soviet or german armies hats or similar)
Exception to the rule are:
aa. the Panama hats (which have been in use for one hundred years in Europe and its colonies)
bb. the traditional riding hat (not the modern one)
cc. the Pollo hat
