About Make Your Own Morandi
The Phillips Collection and DCist.com present Make Your Own Morandi , a Flickr photo contest!
Create a still life out of the objects around your house inspired by the paintings of Giorgio Morandi. Photograph your arrangement and post up to three images to this group by May 1 for a chance to win. Be sure to tag them phillipscollection and dcist. Design, photographic quality, and relationship to Morandi's work are the basic criteria that judges will use in selecting finalists.
The Judges
Three contest finalists will be chosen by Heather Goss, managing and arts editor of www.dcist.com; Douglas Burton, owner of design specialty store Apartment Zero; and Susan Yanero, drawing and painting teacher at The Washington Studio School. The public will vote for the first-place winner.
The Prizes
The three finalists will receive a year-long membership to The Phillips Collection. The first-place winner will also receive:
-Dedicated DCist.com post featuring his/her winning photo
-Gift valued at $100 from Apartment Zero
-Morandi: Master of Modern Still Life exhibition catalogue
The Rules
Step 1: Using Morandi’s paintings as inspiration set up a still life of objects used in your daily life that reflect your hobbies, interests, or habits.
Step 2: Photograph your still life.
Step 3: Upload your photo to this group and tag it with phillipscollection and dcist before May 1.
-Photos should not be noticeably digitally altered (no sepia-toning, blurring, etc)
-No more than three entries per person
-Be sure your Flickr settings make the photo visible to the public at large (check account defaults or the photo may be limited to group members only)
-By uploading to this group, photographer releases to DCist and The Phillips Collection rights to reproduce the image on respective Web sites in association with this contest. Otherwise photographer retains all rights to the photograph.
Step 4: If your photo is selected as a finalist, the public will have the chance to vote it into the top spot.
ABOUT THE PHILLIPS COLLECTION: The Phillips Collection offers an intimate encounter with one of the world’s finest collections of impressionist and modern American and European art. Works by Degas, Diebenkorn, Klee, Lawrence, Picasso, Renoir, Rothko, and many others are displayed in constantly changing installations that illuminate unexpected relationships and conversations between artists from different time periods and parts of the world. The museum is located in the heart of the vibrant Dupont Circle neighborhood, in Washington, DC.
