I'm interested in the ferry, assuming I can get on and (especially) off of it.

How about the 21st or 22nd? I should have my D90 by then.

Not a problem, as far as I know Roger. We'll check into it though, obviously. Wouldn't want you to be stuck on the boat forever. They probably wouldn't like that either. ;-)
I think the 21st would be good. Saturday is an easier day for me to take off. Let's see what works for other people, though.

The ferry trip might not be a bad idea. The majority of the islands have really inexpensive tickets.
I've never been, but do the islands get really cramped during the summer?

I suggest we go to Chebeague Island.

Tickets are $11.05 for adults, $5.50 for child/senior/disabled.

Let's do the 21st, for Jason.

I would prefer to take the 6:30 ferry out of Portland, to catch morning light. We could grab a ham and cheese croissant or a sticky bun and coffee at Standard Baking before boarding.
Boats depart Chebeague at 11:45, 16:15 and 18:55.

This is sounding pretty good. I like the 6:30 idea. Morning light should be nice.

I'd sign up for a ferry ride and some island exploring.

Awesome. Before we head out I'll come up with the contest so people will know what to shoot. Any ideas? I'd like the contest entries to focus on one technique or demonstrate a "rule" of photography, so we can discuss and learn. Shadow, long exposure, rule of thirds, HDR, black and white, bokeh, postcard, not postcard, etc.?
Without objection it's going to be the 6:30 ferry Saturday.

Sounds like a great plan, and I do believe I can make this one.

Sounds like a great idea! It's a bit too early for me to make the trip down, but I can't wait to see your shots!

I like the idea of a bokeh contest. That usually makes for some creative shots.

I love bokeh, too, Jason. I'll decide closer to the meetup.

Brent, are you going to set up the Facebook event page for this one, or would you like me to? I don't care either way. Just want to make sure we get one up soon.

I'm liking this one. But 6:30 might not work since I have to drive quite a ways. I'll try, but maybe I'll see you on the island later.

I'll go out on the 6:30 boat, and come back on the 11:45 boat so I don't have to take the day off work. Should be plenty of time for me.

The forecast is for clear skies, which isn't ideal. It should be comfortable for us, though. Bring a jacket, as the morning voyage on the water might be a little cool.
I'm bringing three friends!! Woot!

Thanks, Brent, for a great meet-up! I enjoyed seeing some old faces and meeting some new folks too. Good stuff. Now to get through processing photos and posting.
