Thanks for asking! My current go-to Lightroom recipe is posted here. To summarize:
1. Press the “Biggify” button four times.
2. Drag the “Punchiness” slider all the way to the right.
3. Set the “XXXposure” dial to “Magic Hour.”
4. Swing the “Cockify” pendulum to “99.9% Cock’d.”
5. Pointilize until “dryness” is ≤12.
Super simple, works in almost every situation except weddings and funerals.

I've found this helpful when dealing with a wife who doesn't feel like having her picture taken because she's been working all day and her hair's a mess and she's tired (LOL!)
- Place your left foot about one step in front of your right foot. Hold your breath as you press the shutter release.
- Don't get into an argument. You're better than that.
- Exposure comp. +0.7
- No matter what happens, keep taking pictures anyway, you might get some good action shots

OMG so dumb.
You guys are 110% FALSE if you think photography is about the settings. How brash of you to think that taking frames has to do with technology, poster processing, and other things that Ansel Admans never even HEARD of and if he did he would spin in his grave like an electric yoyo (lol).
But more serious, if I may share some pro tips here. For those of you interested in the real art that photography can be and not just "affects" with your "lense flair"s and "find edges" and "amiga video toasters" etc etc etc etc etc.
Here is the secret if you are ready for it. What amature (and a lot of *self-called* "pro") fotogs don't realize (or don't want to realize) is that light is the spirit + soul of photography and therefore photography is about light. Period, OK?
Photography is literally figuratively nothing w/o light. Read it until you beleive it >:(
This means you disciplinedly wait until the photons are present & correct before you take the picture. Sounds easy but it can be so hard. I see a lot of nooby fotogs making frames when the light is not making the correct images, and they think they can be juuust like you guys are thinking, when you can one click to Adobe PhotoShop LightRoom or whatever and "fix it up" like that will bring the art back like pouring dog food brings the dog back, as IF, and I laugh but it also shreds me up inside because I hate to see this kind of ignorance, its woeful.
Here is an easy rule for some of you guys to keep in mind until you are a little more mature in the photography.
RULE #1 (the only rule!!!): Never Ever Think That You Can Use Your Digital Tools For Fixing Ur Obvious Photographical Flaws, You Are Taking Images Of An Analog World, Think About It, Keep It Sane, Just Do the H. D. R., Punch Up The Colors tastefully (Kudos There Mr. Gan), And Simple Removing Acne And Putting In Some Extra Light Source Where Absolutely Necessary (Because Lets Face It, No One Wants To Haul There Full Studio Flash Setup Around Lol). Photography Is Ultimately About Light- If There Is No Light, Do Not Take The Capture
I certainly hope this cleared up some of the misconceivings some of you guys are throwing around.
P.S. Lol sorry this turned into a "rant" but I really care about my art. You can skip the first half if ur pressed for time, OK lol? Sometimes I think I should write a novel...
P.P.S.: Flicker guys, I know you read comments and I'm telling you I am not upgrading to Pro until you stop making my A L L C A P S S E N T E N C E S lowercase.

I LOVE your simple "Rule #1" so much I've contacted a tattoo artist who will take the text of the Rule and weave it into a tribal pattern that will run the length of my leg. Then, any time I need a reminder, I'll just hop onto a turntable in front of a mirror and read your rule.
Solid, solid wisdom from a Pro.

You forget that Hansel Adams wrote THREE books--and The Light was only one of them. The Film we can ignore because only pretentious luddites use film any more, even though it's way better. The last book, The Camera, said basically buy the most expensive camera you can. But everything else you're totally right.

OK guys, I was worried I was too negative here (not like Anvil Adam's book The Negative, I mean negative in a negative way) so I decided to make it up with a Provideo VBlog with some LightRoom preset tips.
You can watch it right away on my vimeostream: vimeo.com/2787497
OMG I just realized I forgot the watermark on the video AND the frames in the video! Maybe you shouldn't watch it if there could be anyone around who has a record of disrespecting creator's copyrights, OK?
Be careful out there and happy capturing!!
