Associação dos Criadores de Macau 【Also known as macau.creatives】

【Associação dos Criadores de Macau】 was founded by Sio on August 25th, 2005 when she was residing in the United Kingdom. A strong believer in collective force, she is confident that the creative industry in Macau will be massively expanded if all Macanese around the globe can be united together. With this vision, she started contacting Macanese creatives from all over the world through the internet. An internet-based networking place was then established to showcase talents, exchange ideas and report global creative news. Our organization is comprised of worldwide artists, designers, videographers, musicians, photographers, writers, and broadcasters, etc.


Immediately after Associação dos Criadores de Macau was formed, we announced our first independent film production 【macau.xmas.2005】 in addition to a number of creative contests. In June 2006, Associação dos Criadores de Macau was officially registered as a non-profit creative organization, followed by the recruit of many more interested members. Our mission is to diversify and flourish the local Macau creative industry while providing more creative opportunities for the younger generation.


Creative work stands as a crucial element in local culture. By fostering our domestic creative industry, Associação dos Criadores de Macau is also promoting our unique culture to the international world. Macau’s being an attraction to foreign creative professionals will generate more cultural exchange with other countries.

Interactive website
The start-up of Associação dos Criadores de Macau was originated from a weblog launched in August 2005. Since then, we have been evolved into a resourceful website with nearly 400 registered members. The content of our website includes:

Forum: Our forum serves as a channel for people from different creative fields (such as art and design, videography, music, photography, and writing) to display their works, exchange ideas, and work in collaboration. Our organization encourages networking among all Macanese creatives around the globe, hoping to deliver our local creative works to everywhere in the world.

Online Radio: Associação dos Criadores de Macau host infrequent audio talk shows online (podcasts) primarily interviewing local creative professionals. The purpose is to generate a deeper understanding on creative work among the general public through the sharing of experiences from our creative professionals. The latest news of our organization and audio dramas will also be broadcasted. We strongly encourage interested parties to host programs with our online radio, for our goal is to provide a fresh and comprehensive environment for the broadcasting industry of Macau.


Creative News: Associação dos Criadores de Macau provide linkage to an extensive collection of worldwide creative news, including international creative competitions, local and international creative news, global employment/collaboration opportunities, etc. By providing the most updated information, it allows Macanese creatives to have a greater insight into global creative trends. This helps elevating the quality of our local creative works in order to expand to an international level.


Creative Project:
Associação dos Criadores de Macau organizes and produces one large-scale creative project annually, stemming from ideas and discussions of our members. The objective of this annual project is to team up individuals from different creative fields and collaborate on a venture from concept through completion. The final global launching of the project will bring Macau’s creative work to the recognition of the world. Our debut project is an independent short film named 【macau.xmas.2005】. From preparation in September 2005, the actual filming in December 2005 to the several-months’ time of post-production work, it was a true Macanese creative collaboration from around the world. The local screening of our film and international distribution of the DVDs have been scheduled for November 2006. The production of 【macau.xmas.2005】 is a self-funded project. It documents the obstacles and challenges most Macanese endure in developing a career in the local creative industry. The project is entirely Macau-original – from script-writing, filming, music production, to packaging design, etc. Throughout the production process, we have attracted numerous interested youths to join our team, providing them an invaluable first-hand experience in a real-life creative task. Our international film promotion has also generated a positive effect in boosting awareness of our local culture and creative industry to the world.


Creative Contests:
Associação dos Criadores de Macau various types of creative contests with the aim to elevate the overall standard of our creative industry through observations and criticisms. Our past contests include Associação dos Criadores de Macau logo design contest (September 2005), 【make.magic】 photography contest (February 2006), 【together】 audio drama script-writing contest (May 2006), and Associação dos Criadores de Macau membership card design contest (June 2006). Current contests include 【hear us together, by this white winter】 promotional videomaking contest and our podcast music intro composing contest. All submitted works are showcased and open to discussion on our forum, along with an online public voting system to elect the winners. Our intention is allowing the general public to gain a better understanding of our local creative works while raising the level of arts appreciation. With a bigger recognition from our people, there will be a greater chance for Macau’s unique creative culture to reach out to the rest of the world.


In the second half of 2006, Associação dos Criadores de Macau will continue to organize different activities, such as the promotion and production of our first audio drama 【together】, the local screening and DVD distribution preparation of our film 【macau.xmas.2005】 prior to its launching in November 2006, and the idea-collection and planning of our upcoming 2007 creative projects. We strive to expand our creative industry both domestically and internationally, announcing to the world that Macau is a unique place with her own distinctive culture and a flourishing creative industry!
