About Lucky Lager
Remembering the original Lucky Lager beer brewed by General Brewing in San Francisco,Ca., Azusa, Ca., Vancover, Wa., and Salt Lake City, Ut. Other Lucky Lager Brewing labels are more than welcome to join in, but the focus is on the western United States label.
Prohibition ended in the United States in 1933 openning the door for an expansion of breweries and distilleries...Eugene Selvage founded General Brewing in San Francisco in 1934 and started brewing Lucky Lager...It's popularity grew and at one time, was one of the top 10 beers in America...but sales floundered in the 60's with the raising popularity of Budweiser and other labels...the company was sold to Paul Kalmanovitz in 1971 and the San Francisco plant was closed in 1978...the former site is now host to a townhouse project...
