About Louth, East Lindsey, Lincolnshire

"Louth is a market town within the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. Known as the "capital of the Lincolnshire Wolds", it is situated where the ancient roman road Barton Street crosses the River Lud, and has a total resident population of around 17,000.
Much of the town centre is lined with brick buildings from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and the town's skyline is dominated by the Parish Church of St James, the spire of which is 295 feet (90 m) tall, making it reputedly the tallest parish church in the United Kingdom and second only to Salisbury Cathedral in terms of spire height." - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louth,_Lincolnshire
Louth presents a number of challenges to the photographer. As well as being an attractive Georgian Town with more than its fair share of Georgian frontages there are many fine Victorian façades as well as some interesting industrial architecture. There is also some late 20th century architecture, and an art trail. Many of the streets and alleys follow the old medieval pattern and many backs still retain their medieval outline.
It is also a fully working and vibrant town with a good number of small independent shops, including five butchers, two greengrocers & three bakers. There is a thrice weekly market augmented by a Christmas Market & the occasional European Market. The town has a vibrants and sometimes heavily criticised night life revolving round the many and varied public houses and clubs.
The most photographed building in the town is the spire of St. James's church, which because of its height and proximity to other buildings presents the photographer with the usual perspective problems. How these have been variously resolved can be seen by examples in this photo pool.
The aims of this group are to show all aspects of Louth life, its people, and its culture and as you will see from the pool, some of its problems.
