About Places of Worship in London

A group for all places of worship within the M25.
Churches, temples, synagogues, mosques etc are all equally welcome, but this group is for permanent or semi-permanent features of the urban landscape, rather than functions and services.
Please note that the place or worship, church, temple, synagogue or mosque, should be the prime subject of your shot. It does not do if there is just a steeple or dome somewhere in the background.
Partial or complete views of buildings are acceptable, as are interiors, stained glass, furnishings, graveyards, signage and exterior shots showing the building in its context. Cemeteries unattached to a place of worship should go to the london cemeteries group, but chapels within cemeteries are welcome.
Former churches which have changed their use are welcome, although you could also consider posting them to losing my religion, as are buildings which have been converted into places of worship.
If it is not obvious that your photo is taken within or from a place of worship, your title, tags or description should clarify its relevance to this group. E.g. church floor tiles could be relevant, but only if their context is clear.
Tags
We would like to encourage the use of tagging to make it easier to locate shots of a given building or type. As a minimum please use the following tags:
• London
• Church / cathedral / synagogue / mosque etc
• Name of building, or its dedication
Ideally, some or all of these additional tags will help others to locate your photos in future – think about how you would search for a particular photo:
• Architect (e.g. Wren), if known.
• Postal area (e.g. EC4)
• Area / borough: Square mile / Lewisham etc.
• Address: Streetname etc
• What type of shot: Interior / exterior, detail / stained glass and so on
• Style and / or period: Gothic, Baroque, 20th century etc
• Denomination: Anglican / Roman Catholic etc
Admins may add some of these tags to your photos, if appropriate.
Geotagging is good, too.
