28 Aug 07 - Thanks to all members for their enthusiasm for this new group. We are already amassing quite a collection of London Lettering.

However, please do exercise judgement about what shots you add to the pool - think about what you would be hoping to see here - the lettering should be a focal point of the shot. See the group rubric and threads for guidance.

I have now set a daily limit of 4 to reduce the impact of spammers.

About London lettering

London has a wealth of signs with lettering of every conceivable style.

We welcome all examples of the art from single letters to complete signs, but particularly those where framing decisions have produced an amusing message other than that intended. Because I (Yersinia) started the group, and I have a puerile sense of humour.

There are threads to post subcategories of lettering shots - if you can think of further interesting / amusing categories, please start a thread. This could also include styles of lettering (e.g. "art deco") or particular technologies (e.g. "mosaic"). Let's play it by ear and see what turns up.

All shots should be taken in London within the M25.

Lettering should be a major focus of your shot, not just a peripheral fragment. Shots where lettering does not play a major role will be deleted.
