Quintessential London locations in The City

I've been asked to take a few pictures of a friend somewhere quintessentially "London" and a wee bit touristy this week. Although I have some ideas, I thought I'd cast the net wide here and see if anyone had suggestions. We only have a few hours on Friday afternoon and so I'm planning on keeping it simple: St Paul's Cathedral, the Millennium Bridge, perhaps boarding/alighting the Routemaster that still trundles through the City.

I'd also like to find a nearby ye olde pub (though not Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, been there quite enough) with heaps of wood and glass. We may just pop into the Punch, but someone else may have a better (quieter) suggestion.

my suggestions are:

St Pauls, Tower of London, the gherkin or St Mary's axe,Lloyds building, wobbly bridge and the Tate, and the south bank.......all of these are close to each other(kind of anyway) but the traffic and rioters might cause some delay on your timings.

I would suggest picking 2 or 3 and taking more photo's rather than traveling around too much.

perhaps others may suggest other areas....its been a long time since I've been in "town". have fun and pack a brolly!

Yes, I don't tend to do many different setups for photoshoots, I prefer to work with a fairly confined space. It's challenging in a way because I am VERY skilled at finding secret spaces and obscure spots in London - but I think my view of this wonderful city differs from the American/European tourists who come over ...

I also suspect we'll find our way to Postman's Park as well.

But anyway, thank you for the suggestions. Right, I'm off!

If you're still looking for old pubs, the olde mitre is a favourite of mine.

There are quite a few hidden spots round Smithfield.
