A mate and I are looking to photograph the Thames Barrier from the South side.

Can anyone reccomend a good place to photograph it from sunrise / sunset....?

Thanks for any help in advance!

For some part of the day you can catch a Thames Barrier pleasure cruise from Greenwich pier. The boat goes through the barrier as well as past the O2 and the Quantum cloud sculpture.

This shot was taken from the North side:

Get yourself right in and about the various industrial eastates along the banks ;)

Just head up there as if you were going to park in the official car park. It will be closed so just park where you can and head east along the river from there. Its easy to climb over the posts to get up there although you might get collared by security. Just tell them youre a photographer and that it's not for commercial use. There's a shot there that you can get docklands in between a couple of the barriers although Im yet to do it at sunset.

That is awesome, thanks Gregory. Really appreciate it. Will post my probably mediocre results on this page when I get done there. Cheers Gregory.

If you go to Charlton Railway station, you can walk to the Thames Barrier in about 10 minutes and you wouldn't even have to be on someone else's premises. I've only been there in the middle of the day a couple of days ago, not sure whether it's a good place during sunrise or sunset though.
