Lú's cut-and-paste advice to people looking to escape the obscurity of "Everyone's Photos"
If you want people to see and respond to your photographs, you'll want to get your photos -- and yourself -- "out there":
- use descriptive tags, to make your photos searchable; some people also tag in different languages
- join groups where your photos would fit well, and add your photos to the group pools (be sure to understand each group's rules first!)
- if you're looking for critique and advice, search groups for "critique" for the right places for that
- participate in group discussion
- add people whose work you'd like to keep up with as contacts
- comment on other people's photographs
In the long run, it's mostly about networking. Find people you want to comment on and follow regularly, and some of them will reciprocate. It takes time, for most people, but one thing I know for certain (thanks to Stats) is that most of the comments on my photos come from people who call me a contact and who saw my photo on their "your contacts" page.
