About Located Image

Welcome to Located Image. Thank you for your interest in the project, and I hope you will choose to participate. Located Image is a location and time based project meant to confront viewers with the ideas of place, time, and social media from a new perspective.

Briefly, what happens is you, the user, takes a photograph. Then, you will place a marker, containing a web address, at the location where you took the photograph. Upload the photo to the group, and your photograph will then be linked to the web address on the marker. Any random person can then see the marker and pull up your image on their mobile phone, while standing in the same spot you took the original image from. Your photograph has now been viewed by a totally new audience, and it has made them think about the place and time they are in.

The ideas you can deal with are virtually limitless. It can be as simple as showing that you were there, or as complex as photographing a political billboard, changing its meaning in Photoshop, and uploading it to be viewed as political commentary. You can take it anywhere you want to go.

So, if you want to be an artist and participate in a global project, you need to contact me to get your starter kit. The starter kit will include 5 web address markers ready to be placed anywhere you go. Email or flickrmail me your mailing address, and I will send it out to you. If you would rather not use your mailing address, I can email your web addresses to you (which you will need to print).
