Hello! What can I say, it's a pleasure to be invited here and I hope that at least some of you will enjoy my brief flicker of flickr. Firstly, I'll introduce myself... I'm Kelvin/kelbv/flikr, I like to mess around with stuff.. drawing, writing, programming, painting, doodling... etc.
I'm not a very serious "artist" in the sense of a grand plan or deeply felt belief that I am revealing something to anyone. I just like to mess around. That's about the long and the short of it.
My main criticism of myself, as an "artist", is that I don't share or display anything very challenging. While I enjoy the little mistakes, the blemishes, the crackpot ideas that stream by, I don't tend to "let go" enough -- perhaps.. perhaps not! I don't really know :) There's always room for improvement, adjustment, something new to grab onto and slide along for a while.
I'm not really sure what my responsibilities are in this thread. Perhaps I should find some, possibly representative of my "thing", images and say a short thing about them, here goes:
1) doodling - a set
I enjoy doodling, it passes the time wonderfully, and the world goes away while I am colouring and taking time and care on the piece of paper. Most of the doodles I do these days are done in a A5 size 150g/m² cartridge paper books. For convenience as well as I just like the feel of the paper.
I draw the shapes out in pencil first, this can take anywhere from 5 minutes to half an hour I suppose. Then I erase the lines, and colour them in with pens, normally rollerball type metallic ink gel pens. This can take a number of hours, resulting in hand cramps, back ache and a sensation of relief upon completion :)
I don't see these things as intrinsically "valuable" or "interesting" in particular, they just are fun. People seem to like them, sometimes, and I have given a few away over the years. I tend to think that if someone likes something, I should give it to them. The JPG / memory seems to be sufficient for my purposes.
This horse below, I did quite a while ago, and it now lives in Sweden. The picture, not the horse. I'm not sure the horse was ever actually alive!

2) reverse video inverted doodling
As much as I enjoy the natural authenticity of a doodle, I am not immune to the desire of tinkering and "messing about" with things - although I have to say that I very rarely fiddle with photographs once they leave the camera. So, sometimes I like to invert the doodle, to get a different view of it, with bold colours and exciting (perhaps) new opportunities! Hehe, anyway:

3) computer generated images - agony
I've long had a fun time playing with computers, fiddling, fixing, making them do things, making a variety of websites, on-line games, silly little things. In the last few years I have produced a few programs for PCs, something which I hadn't done before. The program "Agony" (the name was just the first word that came into my head when I needed a name - and it stuck) is a simple program with a complicated interface and a large number of mostly confusing (for other people) variables, all of which come together, in the right hands, to produce some pretty pictures. Again, there's nothing concretely visceral or emotional about this sort of thing, it was just an exercise in achieving a goal.
I make this program available, without warranty nor licence, from my website www.kelbv.com/ at the Agony homepage. It's free, and there're tutorials for it. There is also a flickr group - Agony - for people to post questions and share their creations. One of the best things about sharing the program is to see how other people, with their own minds and ideas, use my software to produce what pleases them. Very often this provides me with a new view of how things can be. It's an endless source of interest and fascination for me how people battle on with my silly stuff!
Here are a few pictures I made with Agony:

Maybe that's too many... sorry if it is! :)
4) computer drawing program - VEXER
And then, there is VEXER... A drawing program I wrote. My initial intent was to produce a program that would "doodle" in a way I enjoyed. I got some way towards that, and then wandered off into just making a drawing program. This program has been referred to in terms of "MS Paint on LSD", which isn't an altogether unfair summary of its behaviours.
There is, of course, a flickr group - VEXER - for people to share their crazed (and beautiful) creations. Sometimes I am amazed at what people do!
I tend to naturally slide into a pattern of drawing rather silly looking open mouthed gap-toothed characters in VEXER, I'm not sure why.
Here are a couple of them, and a couple of examples of pictures that VEXER drew with its own fair hand...

I imagine that most people would have gone somewhere else by now! sigh :)
5) patterns
Patterns! Who could resist them! I like to make patterns from my other pictures :)

6) photographs
Well, this is flickr, who doesn't like to take photographs. I spent many years with a decent Olympus digicam, and now have a Canon EOS 400D which I like.
7) animation
For a long time, perhaps twenty years, I have enjoyed making animation - drawn, computer generated and stop motion. I shan't do much more now, apart from link to some pages which you can look at if you like!
Super8 movies I made with a friend, found at The Internet Kelbography Archive
Some stop-motion stuff with a character, that I made, called Pipecleaner Man, an unfinished little story. This was good fun, making the characters and sewing up their clothes from dishclothes etc.
Some computer generated animation on flickr (made with my Agony software)

Well, that seems to be enough! Probably far too much!, ah well. Cheers!

Hello again :) Thanks for the kind words so far
I thought I'd continue!
8) djuhn see my set here
Djuhn is a very silly program I wrote to produce a different kind of geometrical/mathematical set of patterns from agony. It, like all my software, was never designed to be used by anyone but myself, but even so some brave people struggle on and somehow produce lovely things too.. They post to the flickr group "djuhn", and as always this provides me with great enjoyment sampling their differing takes on the same tool.
Anyway, here's a few images created with this idiocy!

9) savagery see my set here
Savagery is available, as usual, from my website, and is based on the Agony program but produces SVG vector graphics XML files instead of bitmaps. This allows some degree of "messing about" afterwards with various parts of the shape, with the entire output broken into constituent polygons. This, as ever, is a pretty unwieldy and unfriendly application, with scant instruction. But indeed this program was written at the request of Pritchard who immediately produced some quite lovely works
Of course, there is a flickr group Savagery for people to share their pain/beauty/ideas! :)
anyway, here are a few of my pieces

and lastly some photos that I took and like, for various reasons:
my father:

I just liked the neatness and cleanness of the lines and shapes in this service station:

I liked the bold red against the metal and reflections:

And, an abstract photo piece of a thing :)

Well, that really ought to be more than enough for anyone!
Cheers
