About The Original Live Diptych Group
What the heck is a Live Diptych anyway?
The idea behind 'live' diptych's as in preference to say 'natural' ones, is that there is a 'creative' process involved for your single photo. I prefer mirrors, but any kind of juxtapositon will work. :-)
Take a bit of time to look through, and comment on the other pictures, it's the friendly thing to do. :-)
--------------------------
This is just a fun thing you might want to try .....
Every once in a while, when the ideas for 365 run out and I'm getting desperate, there's a little light bulb that goes off in my head.
This idea came to me one night and seems to caught the imagination of some, so I thought I'd start a group.
Firstly, what is a diptych? There are plenty of definitions but for photography I guess - two photos that fit better together than they did apart. There are plenty of examples to find on Flickr.
Now, a 'Live Diptych' turns that idea on it's head, it's actually one shot, with two distinct parts.
How you make those two parts is part of the creative process but one of the easiest ways is to use a reflection in a mirror.
Below are a couple of examples, there's also a 'how to' guide in there as well if you fancy giving it a go yourself.
The important bit is to keep your eye open and enjoy it.
You might ask, is it any better than a 'created' diptych of 2 seperate photos? .. no, not necessarily .... is it more fun? Too blimmen right it is! :-)
Feel free to ask questions, I'm sure there's answers....
Just a quick note, this is an invitation only group, but only so it doesn't become a dumping ground, feel free to invite others.
