About Listed Buildings of Edinburgh

This is a little project that I've been meaning to get round to for ages... An online resource showing images of as many of Edinburgh's Listed Buildings as possible.

This is partly inspired by the English Heritage Images of England project, for which there is no direct Scottish equivalent. However, there are many people out there, including myself, who do record such buildings - why not collate them together in a Flickr group, I thought?!

In my day job as an architectural historian I regularly need to refer to images and descriptions of buildings to aide my research... There are many sources, but I think this little Flickr project could prove to be one of the most useful. Not only will it be useful for people finding out more about listed buildings, but it will be a great showcase of some of the best buildings that we have in Edinburgh.

You are welcome to submit images, but they will be checked before being added to the group - apologies if this takes a while!

Required in the Description/Comment Field
When adding images to the group, it would be helpful if you could add a link to the Historic Scotland Listed Building Report - like I have done here. There is a text-based search here and you can also find Listed Buildings on the map-based search tool, Pastmap. You will see the HBNumber displayed in the search results and on the Listed Building Report.

Most Listed Buildings should also have a corresponding record on the RCAHMS database Canmore. Again, a link in your photo's description or in a comment would be useful.

The html code that you can paste into your description/comment can be a copy of the following, with the relevant HBNumber or Canmore ID changed accordingly:

This group is for Listed Buildings of Edinburgh, but there are also similar groups for the other five cities in Scotland: Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, Stirling & Inverness. There is also the Listed Buildings of Scotland group. Feel free to add to both the national pool and city pool!
