Poole-shooter Cindi:
This is my favorite stencil-making method. While I have used other techniques, this one is the cleanest and easiest to make:

thanks illum, that's kinda what I did, but I did not use 2 printouts and the light went through some of the black too. I will try it with 2 printouts.

I found that printing only one copy heavy card stock and then putting a blank piece of card stock behind it does a good job keeping light from shining through the black. for some intricate designs, doubling up the print is not an option–the little details do not always match up. I would try card stock (110 lb paper) .

as you can see, i used a thin-ish particle board stuff.
a bright flash will show through, but at a 8+ aperture it seemed fine

As you see, i used a kind of different method. I didn't use a flash or laser pointer. I made this this LEDs. But to make this, you have to hang your stencil somewhere. Because unlike flash you have to fix this somewhere. As you can see at the exif data, I made this in 154 seconds...

recycle bean This is very creative and cool looking. It almost looks like it was colored with markers.

Great tutorial: www.flickr.com/groups/lightjunkies/discuss/72157605605898...
Hard to improve on that but I deviated just a little: used the cereal box but cut one side out and left all the flaps and unfolded them. Taped a regular paper printout on it, then cut out thru the print. When finished, I just removed the print and reformed the cereal box so that light doesn't escape.
