About Lehigh Gap Nature Center

The Lehigh Gap Nature Center ( www.lgnc.org ) is a 750 acre refuge on the Kittatinny Ridge along the Lehigh River and in the Lehigh Gap in eastern Pennsylvania, near the towns of Slatington and Palmerton. The Center was established on part of the largest federal Superfund site east of the Mississippi River, in an area in which much of the vegetation was decimated by extensive zinc smelting operations in the 20th century. Ongoing restoration efforts have included the seeding of some of these areas with metal-tolerant warm season grasses, an effort that is resulting in a re-greening of the mountain.

Please post your finest photographs taken at the refuge of the flora, fauna, scenery, and center events. Please provide descriptions of the items shown in the pictures, identify location at the refuge where the photo was taken (or geotag), and include accurate dates if possible, if not provided in the image data.

We'll look forward to enjoying your shared images.
