Officers and privates, troopers and mercenaries, veterans and recruits...
After a long, highly strenuous debate locked inside an underground bunker for two weeks, the judges (Magnus, Fradel and Jas) have agreed upon the winners of the first Flickr Military LEGO Building Competition.
We’d like to thank everybody who entered. Back when we started this competition three months ago we were hoping we’d drum up some interest in military building, but we’ve been delighted to see just how many builders out there grabbed their bricks and entered. Since the beginning of the competition, the membership on this group has more than tripled, and we hope that the community continues to grow and thrive.
The building level has been very high overall, which has made judging all the more challenging for us, and there were far more great MOCs that didn’t make it than the ones that did. But the bar was set very high. So just like washing out during Navy SEAL hell week, there is absolutely no shame in not winning a prize here, we’re grateful you all participated, and hope you’ll be back next time.
We’ve kept the prizes under wraps for the duration of the competition, and we’re happy to be able to offer more than four prizes! A mixture of LEGO sets and BrickArms weapons. Thanks again to Will Chapman for sponsoring the competition.
There are four categories – MOC, Model, Vignette, and Diorama. We’ve ultimately chosen four builds in each of these categories, and will thus be awarding sixteen separate MOCs.
PRIZES:
1st place winners can choose between a LEGO set and a BrickArms Ultimate Pack. The LEGO set is the new Indy River Chase, the alternative prize for all four categories is the BrickArms Ultimate Weapons pack, which has one of each standard BrickArms weapon produced so far.
The 2nd place winner get whichever prize the 1st place winner decides not to have.
The 3rd and 4th place winners each will receive a BrickArms Series 3 Weapons pack.
A couple of builders entered MOCs that won in two separate categories – they’ll receive one prize rather than two, as per the original rules.

Here are the winners. I’d like to make clear that many of the entries that did not make it to this list were truly terrific MOCs and fully worthy of an award – if only the competition hadn’t been so tough.
