He's a really good friend of mine. At Brickfair, we were discussing cool contests together, and that's when I had the idea for this one. While we were talking, he said he would be willing to judge. So, yeah.

Wow, finally I get an excuse to build a hardsuit c:
Please, no BA prizes... It just, doesnt fit the theme that well, and its too mainstream. Be a hipster, and have some useful hardsuit parts as prizes, or a gift card, or a small Hardsuit trophy. Those would be nice :3

Ask for a BA sponsorship, but I know that Will gets a lot of requests. Justin got GI Brick to sponsor a contest he ran, maybe you should try them if BA won't sponsor.
Of course I'd be even happier if you won real Laygoez. But I know that they cost a ton to ship.

Two questions:
Is the judging based only on the hardsuit? Say if I made a diorama to go with the hardsuit, would the whole moc be judged or just the suit itself?
If you entered a moc to the contest already, can you change your entry?

I think you should TRY to get mech parts. Clips, travis bricks, t-peices etc.
If not than go with the brickarms or brickwarriors.

I should build a lifesize LEGO hardsuit that fits me. THAT would be awesome. Or I could enter this great little contest and save myself a few thousand dollars in bricks :)

When I first started on flickr I started a hardsuit but then I destroyed it because I didn't have the pieces to finish it. Would I be able to enter it if I re-build it, and, if I can will I be judged more harshly.

Ok, everyone, I have decided not to ask for a sponsorship and to buy the prizes with my own hard earned cash. Although they might not be worth as much as the newest BA prototype, they will somehow tie in to the theme of the contest. As much as I love Brickarms for sponsoring things and being awesome, I think people need to think of newer, creative prize ideas that aren't just free.

One question, if you want feedback on your entry, are you allowed to post WIP pictures? And also one suggestion, if you get enough entries, maybe have another round?
Posted 8 months ago.

Of course you can post a WIP.
I actually did consider having another round, but I thought it would be too complicated and make the contest too long. I think two is good for me.

I have a strong aversion to Mega Blox, and other Lego imitators. The reason Brickarms, Brickforge, Brickwarriers, ect. are ok to use is that they only produce Lego accessories that the Lego Group generally doesn't create (guns and other weapons) because of their child based marketing.
Hope that answers your question

That's a great idea but I have a limited budget and the engraved bricks are expensive enough. Exo-Force sets are getting pretty pricy now a days. I think I might make an awesome trophy out of my own bricks, though :)

For this, I'm going to say yes. It might reduce your chance of winning, but I'm fine with LDraw. If you do have time to build, I encourage you to do so, otherwise, don't be pressured.

But I've been inspired by this contest to give it a try again, and last night I finally succeded in building my first ever hardsuit! I'll hopefully have it up sometime later today. So thanks Cam for helping me discover a whole new genere of building! :)

Would fitting an unconventional figure, like an original technic figure, be worth any additional consideration? What of a Hero Factory Hardsuit? Would a Hero Factory figure in a completely separate hardsuit still conflict with the no robots rule?

Cam, just wondering... if a hardsuit is large enough to fully conceal its operator, are the builders required to reveal how the operator fits or do we just imagine "oh, yup, it's in there. there's a goat/frog/mf inside."?
