Based on the votes, we now have three nominees to submit to LEGO as potential LEGO Ambassadors for the LEGO fan community on Flickr.

Heather Braaten
Lino Martins
Ralph Savelsberg

Each nominee must have at least three testimonials from fellow members of their community -- that's you!

If you'd like to endorse one or more of the three candidates, please post your testimonial in this thread by 11:59 PM PDT on Monday, June 29.

Tip: Remember that your testimonial is going to be read by people at a large multinational corporation. "So-and-So is awesome!" does not count as a testimonial, no matter how much the sentiment is appreciated. Please take this seriously.

My testimonial for Lino:

Lino Martins is a talented builder and excellent communicator whom I'm happy to endorse as a nominee for LEGO Ambassador, representing LUGNuts, SEALUG, and the LEGO fan community on Flickr as a whole. As his multiple nominations indicate, Lino is heavily involved in both online and offline LEGO communities, and has even served on the planning committee for BrickCon.

As a co-founder of LUGNuts, Lino drives innovation in the LEGO car-building community through his monthly challenges. His friendliness and responsiveness are legendary, carefully answering questions from fellow community members -- helping them grow both as builders and as people.

With his positive attitude toward his fellow LEGO fans and ability to communicate critiques in a non-threatening way, Lino is exactly the sort of person to serve as the voice of these communities to The LEGO Group as a LEGO Ambassador.

My testimonials for Heather & Ralph will be up shortly.

My testimonial for Heather:

Even though we keep missing each other at LEGO events in person, I feel like I've known Heather Braaten forever. On both Flickr and MOCpages, I've observed Heather's consistently positive attitude toward other members of the LEGO fan community.

Heather doesn't take herself seriously, demonstrating a sense of humor all too uncommon online. She's patient when necessary and diffuses tense situations with good humor. With fans all over the world, Heather is also closely connected with LEGO fans everywhere.

With a great attitude and excellent communication skills, I'm happy to endorse Heather Braaten as a LEGO Ambassador for the 2009-2010 cycle.

My testimonial for Ralph will follow shortly.

My testimonial for Ralph:

When I first encountered Ralph Savelsberg's creations on Flickr, I described them as "unashamedly studly." Ralph is an extremely talented model builder who uses what some might call "traditional" building techniques to achieve amazing results. Ralph has served as an inspiration to many other LEGO builders.

More importantly, Ralph communicates in a rational, articulate way that encourages great discussions. Perhaps his multilingualism enables him to be more conscious of the impact his words have on fellow members of his communities.

As the voice of a community, communication skills are the most important asset of a potential LEGO Ambassador. Throughout the course of my interactions with Ralph Savelsberg, he's demonstrated not just great LEGO building skills but great communication and community-building skills.

Okay folks, that's all from me. Remember, the nominees need at least two more testimonials. It's time to say something nice. :-)

Thank you Andrew. With your testimonial and testimonials of people that I myself have asked/ who have offered to write them, I have four testimonials for flickr and therefore have enough. Of course it is always nice to read positive things about oneself, so if somebody wants to add some more, they are welcome ;-)

Ralph Savelsberg, 33, is a FOL (Fan of LEGO) that currently resides in the United Kingdom, though he’s moving back to his native land, the Netherlands, this summer. A prolific builder, he mostly builds military and civilian vehicles. His unique style of building emphasizes scaling, and he’s not happy unless his vehicles are completely accurate to their real-life counterparts. Often using what some may call traditional techniques, he doesn’t mind leaving studs showing , and even uses them to achieve correct angles. However, don’t let the studs fool you, as he’s a master at working with SNOT (Studs Not On Top) and other complicated techniques.

More importantly, however, Ralph is a communitarian and is active in the FOL community on flickr. A moderator of the LEGO Military and LUGNuts groups, he’s an important contributor to both and has influenced them in significant ways. Always ready to lend a helping hand, his willingness to help both old and new builders by providing them with advice and constructive criticism, as well as show them his models and building techniques, is an admirable quality that would doubtlessly serve him well as a LEGO Ambassador.

Ralph’s involvement in the community on also applies to debates that inexorably arise. Instead of shying away from them, he does as a true communitarian does and thoroughly examines issues and voices his opinions, which are invariably well though-out. Readiness to face and deal with issues in the community is an attribute that all LEGO Ambassadors should possess, in my opinion.

Though his time in the United Kingdom is drawing to a close, Ralph’s involvement in the Brickish Association, a British LUG (LEGO Users Group), is nevertheless noteworthy. He’s been just as involved in its goings-on as he has been online, and his face-to-face interaction with other FOLs is an invaluable quality.

Though I haven’t had the chance to meet him yet, Ralph has been a good friend and I can say with confidence that he’d make for an excellent LEGO Ambassador. I hope that my testimonial will help convince the judges likewise.

My Testimonial for Lino

Lino is a wonderful choice to represent the LEGO fan community. He is a fantastic builder and an even more fantastic person. Not only has he become known worldwide for his amazing creations, he has helped guide and inspire others through his group LUGnuts and now Battle Bugs -- which I know has already inspired many to follow his lead in this interesting concept. Lino is also very active in his local LEGO group SEALUG and helps organize BrickCon in Seattle. LEGO even invited him to Billund last year as part of an AFOL workshop. And in my opinion, if LEGO is noticing you, than you are on the right track. I wholeheartedly support Lino to become a LEGO Ambassador.

My Testimonial for Heather LEGOgirl

Heather is truly and excellent choice as a LEGO Ambassador. She is one of the relatively few women that are actively involved in the LEGO fan community. She's no slacker when it comes to building either, her "Dave Shaddix Home for Wayward Girls" is a really impressive build. The interior details are stunning. She would be a good addition to the Ambassador program by showing LEGO that girls can build too and that we are tired of being ignored when it comes to set design.

Testimonial for Ralph:

I have yet to have the pleasure of meeting Ralph in person, but I've been amazed by his model aircraft for many years now, and in the past few years I've gotten to interact with him a fair amount through his involvement on Flickr and Builder's Lounge. While I haven't met Ralph in person, I am aware that he has been active in the British AFOL community, and has displayed his excellent models in several shows open to the public. He has also become quite a presence within the Flickr community, especially on the Lugnuts and Military LEGO groups.

Ralph specializes in modeling real life automobiles and military aircraft, but has worked within a few other themes as well. As a MOC builder, modeling has always struck me as among the most challenging endevours for a builder to take up. Ralph has made a well-deserved name for himself as being among the very best model builders in the community. He tackles various scales with ease, and is comfortable pushing the envelope with building techniques when it helps the model. Unlike many of his peers, he never uses new building techniques just for the sake of it. Good old studs up works just fine for him, and more often than not he makes the right call in this respect.

Ralph takes the same deliberate methodological approach he applies to his building to his online interactions, choosing his words and thoughts well when discussing all things LEGO with veteran builders and newbies alike. I am confident that he would make a fine addition to the Ambassador roster, bringing both his experience in modeling and his natural voice as a community leader to engage both the LEGO company and the AFOL community.

It is a pleasure to recommend Ralph as an Ambassador and am confident that he will disappoint neither the community nor the company.

My testimonial for Heather:

Heather Braaten is truly one of the most unique, and certainly one of my favorite people in the online LEGO fan community. She has a sense of humor that seems to be lost among lots of the community, she never takes herself too seriously, and she's always very respectful of other members. I don't think there's a soul out there who doesn't like her.

She approaches tough situations with diplomacy and a sense of humor, which I find admirable. From what I've seen in my short time in this community, she tends to defuse any potential "scuffles" with great success.

In our local Lego Users Group, SEALUG, she always has something useful to add to the discussion. I met her in person after interacting with her online for a few months, and let me tell you, she does not have an internet facade. She's the same person online and offline.

As a builder, Heather's attention to detail and skill amaze me. Every one of her creations puts a smile on my face. Take her "Dave Shaddix Home for Wayward Girls", for example. Seeing it online is fun, but getting to se it in person is great.

Another important point is that Heather represents a demographic/minority that seems to be growing quite a bit recently; the FFOL, or Female Fan Of LEGO. As one of the most active FFOLs in both online and offline communities, Heather would be a great source of feedback from that demographic for the LEGO Group.

It is an honor to recommend Heather "LEGO Girl" Braaten for LEGO Ambassidor.

Hope it's not too late. I think Lino needed one more, so here goes:

Lino Martins is an exceptionally skilled builder who continually pushes the envelope of technique, style and creativity. He has created entire themes and genres and particularly inspired me with his tree growing through an abandoned car, sparking an interest in creations featuring natural reclamation.

He is also quite helpful to newer members of the community and frequently provides feedback for corrections. Though Lino and I do not agree on all issues, it is quite clear that he is dedicated to the well being of the adult fan community and has their interests at heart, consistently pushing high standards for himself and the community. He is actively involved in dialogues in the flickr community and receptive to input. He and all the other ambassadors would make excellent representatives of the LEGO flickr community.

Thank you, Yupa-sama but I believe everything has already been sent off. At final count I had five testimonials for flickr alone so I had more than what I needed. If your testimonial doesn't go anywhere officially, its was still nice to read. Glad my rusted Hidden Treasure inspired you. Mother Nature will always eventually take back what was once hers.

Barack Obama filled his cabinet with people who don't agree with him on all issues so I welcome your friendship, views and ideas as different as they may be. I'm not saying I'm anything like Barack Obama...after all, my cabinet is filled with hamburger helper and minute rice.
