About Landscape Critique Circle - CLOSED

Due to lack of activity, this group has been CLOSED

This is a critique circle group - intended for experienced photographers to share candid critique of each other’s work.
The membership of this group is strictly by invitation only.

Group Rules

Images can only be submitted to the pool after they have participated in either type of critique.

There are two types of critique in this group: Open Critiques and Critique Circles.

Open Critiques

These are for individual members to post an image they would like open and honest critiques from other members.
Please open a new thread with the title Open Critique #1: Title of Photo.
Then introduce the photo with an explanation of what it is that you were trying to achieve etc, and perhaps what direction you want the discussion to take. I suggest you post at medium size into the thread and enable people to view your photo big if you can.

Critique Circles

Critique circles of 5 photographers maximum are set up to provide a framework for critiques to be given and received. Each photographer who signs up for a circle (see details of how below) is committing him/herself to submitting a photograph to the circle discussion and to providing respectful and thoughtful critique of the 4 other photographs in the circle. Please remember that more than one circle can be open at any one time.
There are 5 stages to completing a Critique Circle. Each stage is signified by the host changing the description of the thread.

1.Call for members
2.Full - Open for posting
3.Full - Critiques Underway
4.Critiques Completed
5.CLOSED

1. Call for members
If you would like to start a new critique circle, begin a new thread entitled
Critique Circle #12 - Hosted by g r e e n g a g e - Call for members
If you would like to join in with an existing critique circle that is calling for members, simply reply to the thread that you would be interested in joining in.

2. Full - Open for posting
Once a critique circle has 5 members the host should change the thread name to
Critique Circle #12 - Hosted by g r e e n g a g e - Full - Open for posting
The 5 photographers attached to a full circle should then post a medium size image to the thread. If you need to know how to paste a medium photo into a thread, just ask!

3. Full - Critiques Underway
Once a critique circle has its 5 photographs posted to the thread, critiques should begin. Now the host should change the thread name to
Critique Circle #12 - Hosted by g r e e n g a g e - Full - Critiques Underway
The critiques should be given as quickly as possible, but we must recognise that we either have day jobs in addition to photography, or even perhaps make a living doing this good stuff! However there is a time limit of 3 months to complete each circle, which should be ample time for each participant to offer a constructive critique of 4 images. Critiques must be given to each of the other four photographs in your circle, in no particular order. Critique comments should be provided in the photographs comment stream and not in the circle discussion thread.

4. Critiques Completed
After the critiques have been completed, and before it is decided that the thread can be closed, the thread name can be changed to
Critique Circle #12 - Hosted by g r e e n g a g e - Critiques Completed

5. CLOSED
Once any final discussion has died down concerning the critiques and how the circle went for the participants, the thread can be closed and its thread name should be changed to
Critique Circle #12 - Hosted by g r e e n g a g e – CLOSED

Thanks for all your contributions (critiques and suggestions) so far; I look forward to the group continuing in such a positive vein.

Group Guidelines - helpful tips
1) If possible please allow other members to view your image in a sufficiently large size in order to effectively critique it. This is not mandatory but is helpful.
2) If you are lucky enough to be a very popular photographer and tend to get a flood of comments for new images, please try to allow this to die down before submitting an image to a critique circle. This will help to keep critiques from this group bunched closely together in the photo's comment stream.
