About Lance and Longbow
Medieval military history - armour, weapons, battlefields, castles, medieval wargaming, medieval role play, medieval re-enactors.
Religious material should be directed to one of the churches groups but everyday medieval life is also quite acceptable.
As the Viking used longbows and Saxon equipment was similar to Norman the admin will take a liberal view of 'late Dark Ages' material sliding into this group. The group's main dates are 1066 to 1500 but material from as early as the Vikings in England and as late as the Battle of Flodden Field [1513] are quite acceptable.
Geographical area is Britain and Western Europe but re-enactors in North America or other countries, or museum exhibits world-wide are welcome. If in doubt, please ask.
This group is associated with the Lance and Longbow Society and particularly welcomes members of that society but this group is also open anyone with an interest in medieval military history.
The Lance and Longbow Society is the leading medieval interest group which publishes a regular journal, dozens of booklets on heraldry and battles, as well as hundreds of authentically researched heraldic flags and standards in both 15mm and 25mm scale.
The Lance and Longbow Society is active in the field of wargaming and represents medieval interests at more than thirty national or international wargame shows every year.
