This photo was taken when I was neither here nor there, not in my homeland, not where I live now. I took this photo in Thailand, where I lived for more than ten years, a country, where I wandered often, a base from where I went on further to lose myself in other foreign lands.
That day, a friend invited me to shoot photos for a documentary that World Vision was filming about hunger. It’s about a poor village boy who lived with his younger brother and grandmother. It had been awhile since the child heard from his mother who had left them to find a job in the city. Everyday the boy would bring food to the table. He showed me the pond where he fishes, the field where he digs for root crops.
He and his brother walk to school barefoot. In the school grounds, I noticed that he distanced himself from his classmates, often sitting alone in a bench under the tree. Some of the boys invited him to play ball. He joined them but only briefly. Early on into the game, dirt was kicked straight to his eyes and he was forced to quit playing. He went back to the bench. Around that time his younger brother arrived and sat on the ground right next to him. I clicked the shutter.
First hand. Alam ko din that it’s a special position. A lot gets lost in the translation but nobody teaches sympathy and understanding like the outsider does. The heart bleeds but it is also on fire. It breaks open and, as one poet acutely observed, is suddenly able to contain the entire universe.

17th Stop my workstation (RCBC Plaza, Makati City Philippines)...
Received the notebook 2 weeks ago here in my office...It was personally delivered by Estan 2 fridays ago. (to Estan: Sorry I wasnt able to meet you due to some errans that night ). I was so excited to read every single page of this notebook. Stories are interesting and very inspiring at the same time. And here's my share to our Lagalag Project....
1st spread: HAPPILY SINGLE

“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so…” – Shakespeare
Being single is an essential life phase, or it can be a happily chosen personal way of life. It can be one of the greatest periods for individuality, maturity and self-discovery.
I have been single all my life. My life seems full with so many other things: setting goals and working hard for my career, bonding time with my family, meet with my friends, watch dvd marathon - my fave Korean drama series, travels - going to places, loving my passion in photography, fulfilling my dreams, and do what I enjoy. I honestly like the way my life is. This is my time to make most of a single life: to do what I want to do.
True, living a life of singlehood in a couples’ world is a test. So I must learn to celebrate my independent spirit, to find who I am, to love who I am and to seek happiness from within. I know that I maybe missing something out there… finding a one true love. I believe in the value of quality relationships, but before one find happiness as coupled, one must first learn to be happily single.
Singleness can be a productive and happy experience if it is consciously thought of in that way. I know that happiness is a choice and I choose to be happy, just for now.
2nd spread: RAINBOW AND MY PHOTOGRAPHY

I see a colorful world through my PHOTOGRAPHY.
One of my fave subject is a RAINBOW.
Its color has an intimate influence to my life.
LOVE. True love is where you've found a perfect match.
ENTHUSIASM. Little ones has inspired me to live life wholeheartedly and keep on going.
BRIGHT & JOYS. There are lots of reason to celebrate and look forward to a brighter future.
LIFE. Aboundancy in life may come in different forms that one must learn to recognize.
CALMNESS. This perfect view brought me to a serenity of heart.
HIGHER INTUITION. Wisdom brings us to a deeper understanding.
PURPOSE. Good or bad, it has a purpose that one must learn from.

Na-in love ang lolo mo!! hehehe.
1991
Nabiyayaan kami along the way ng tatlong mababait na anak….Inah - 16, Zequi – 13 at Caleb – 9
2003
Text araw-araw at chat gabi-gabi.
