About Leeds Street Photographers
This group is for street and documentary photography created by photographers based in Leeds UK.
The main focus of the group is to build a body of good local work that could potentially form the basis for a group exhibition (and accompanying book) in Leeds at some point in the future.
It should also be a place where beginners in street photography can receive support and encouragement from those with a bit more experience. Ideally we want to foster an open environment where people are willing to share their experience, and create an atmosphere where all members can improve their understanding and skills within the street and documentary genres.
Although the pool will be tightly curated to keep the quality high, the threads will be open for discussion and critiquing at all levels.

What goes in the pool?
Trying to define “street photography” has eluded better men than us, so let’s just say that images must provoke interest and preferably an emotional response (wow, lol, cool etc). Boring shots of strangers, buildings or streets aren’t good enough. Is the picture worth looking at for more than a minute? Will anyone remember it?
If the term "street photography" is new to you then check the links below.
Even though the group contains "Leeds" in its title, the pictures don't have to be taken in Leeds. You should be Leeds based though (or nearby) - if your profile has you living in New York, expect problems getting in the pool.

Quality not quantity
We'd prefer to end up with 100 good photos at the end of a year's activity, rather than 500 average ones. For this reason the pool will be limited to 100, and after that we'll replace photos with better ones as they come along. The idea being that the pool should be viewable in one sitting, like a good book, so that the initial work doesn't get buried over the passage of time as with so many other groups on flickr.
DO view the pictures currently in the pool to get an idea of what type of shots will be accepted.
DO only post your best shots.
And please don't go off in a huff if your pictures don't get in (or get deleted) - as they probably told you at school: you need to try harder. If you are truly baffled as to why your shot did not make the pool then post it in this thread and the admins, and others, will do their best to explain why.
If you feel that you could help enrich the community of Leeds' Street Photographers in an open and constructive way, we'd be pleased to have you on board.
