because that part of Gujarat in India has faced many calamities in last 100 years and is constantly changing with each disaster, but the people remain passionately attached with the land and its life style.
These are the Kutches who, As one flicker member says " Keep Smiling "

For Kutchi people Ashadhi Beej the second day in the month of Ashadh ( a calendar designed on moon phases and weather ) is a beginning of the New Year.
Ashadh is a month associated with many other religious celebrations but that month has long been associated with a poem by Kalidas in Sanskrit ( Indian language of Vedas )
" Meghdoot ", ( wings.buffalo.edu/litgloss/kalidas/text.shtml )
translated in English as " Cloud Messenger " www.poemhunter.com/p/m/poem.asp?poet=37750&poem=458783
No, the poem is not written for Kutch, nor is the poet from that region, but Ashadhi Beej breaks the spell of hot summer days in Kutch and brings hope in the form of Monsoon Clouds. As in the Lyrics of the song by Javed Akhtar, (Bollywood Film Lagaan, nominated in Academy Award for best foreign language film in 2001, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Best_Foreign_Lang... )
" Kaale megha, kaale megha paani to barsaao
Bijuri ki talvaar nahin, boondon ke baan chalaao "
