The Congress Hall in Berlin's Tiergarten park was built in 1956/1957 as the American contribution to the International Building Exhibition. The opening was on 26 April 1958. The architect was Hugh Stubbins.

It is located on an artificial hill on the banks of the River Spree, on the road side (John-Foster-Dulles-Allee) are several pools with fountains and sculpture by Henry Moore "Large Butterfly".

Since 1989 she is the organizer seat House of World Cultures.

On 21 May 1980 collapsed the roof structure, and was rebuilt in 1987 (architect Hans-Peter Störl and Wolf Rüdiger Borchardt). After renovations, the Congress Hall Reopened in August 2007 for the third time. The interior has been inspired in design aspects of the original design from the 1950s.
