About Knit Recipes

This is a group for knitters to use to show off the process of creating a knitted object. The basics are simple: for each project you knit, post only ONE photo to the group pool. That photo should be of the completed project. In the description of that photo, put a link to the photoset that contains the in-progress photos of that project.

Here are the specific rules and instructions for group participation:

* Only post one photo for each project. That photo must be a photo of the completed project.

* Each photo in the group must have a link to its "recipe" in the description. The recipe is just a group of photos of the project in process. You can either link to a photoset, or create a unique tag for all of the photos of the project, and link to that tag.

* Please make sure there are at least two photos in your recipe, in addition to the FO photo you upload to the group. That means at least two photos of the knitting in progress, not counting photos of just the yarn. Of course, you are welcome to include photos of the yarn in the recipe, as well as any additional FO photos of the object, in addition to the one uploaded to the group.

* Describe your project, and use descriptive tags. This isn't as much a rule as a helpful suggestion. Including information such as the name of the pattern, the pattern source, pattern designer, and yarn used, will be really useful to other knitters. Using appropriate tags will mean that more people will find your photo if they're doing a tag search for something like what you made.

* The Flickr guidelines state that using Flickr for commercial purposes is not allowed. Any photos that are accompanied by instructions on how to purchase products will be deleted without notice.

Other stuff:
This group was inspired by the group Art Recipes. If you haven't seen that group, you should check it out. There are a lot of interesting things there, including some knitting. Feel free to cross-post projects between these two groups, if you feel your project is appopriate to both groups.

Feel free to give me any suggestions you have for the group. Tell your friends about it, if you like, but please don't get all spammy about it. My favorite thing about reading knitting blogs is seeing projects progress, from a cast on row to a glorious finished object. Hopefully this group will capture the essence of that, with that special little flare of instant gratification. Post! Browse! Be merry!
