About Royal Museums of Fine Arts, Brussels (Belgium)
Founded two centuries ago (by Napoleon!!), the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium hold some twenty thousand paintings, sculptures and drawings.
Located in Brussels, they consist of
- the Ancient Art Museum (XV - XVII century),
- the Modern Art Museum (XIX XX century),
- the Wiertz Museum and
- the Meunier Museum.
Since this museum has the biggest fine art collection of Belgium it deserves a place on Flickr. I found a lot of very different photos of this museum on Flickr, it's my attempt to bring them together here.
"Biggest" doesn't mean necesarily the best of course... However there are some very fine treasures waiting to be discovered here: a lot of very fine Magrittes, Brueghels, Ensors, Rubenses, etc.
The architecture is also very diverse. Styles you can see here go from classic over Art Nouveau to contemporary.
Just look for yourselves, and if you plan a trip to Brussels don't be afraid to ask some info.
Thanks a lot for the many posts. More than 80 photos in the first two days of this group! Waow!!
