What makes a "kitty loaf"?

Many people use this term to describe their cat when all paws are tucked under their body, so they look like a nice big bread loaf. So, if you would like to add your kitty to this pool, try and make sure those paws are tucked under their furry bodies! If not, post something close to it, and try better next time. ;)

There are differences of opinion as to whether the tail must be wrapped around the cat's body, or can be extended. I think the "breadloaf" (or as B. Kliban described it, "frequently mistaken for a meatloaf") shape is the crucial detail.

.. first heard this terminology when Jeeves, a master of this pose, was called a "cat loaf" ! (Verna Jarrett is the well-trained human)..
.. after ROTFLMAO, what do I receive.. you got it ! An invite to this funny group of feline photos (no, won't tell them I think they are funny... felines don't appreciate it ! )
.. will do my best to be sure guidelines are followed, but, hey, we're dealing with very independent creatures !

Sheeba - thank you so much for the invite! I had no idea there was such a marvellous group. I have to admit, Jeeves will "loaf" just about anywhere. I have submitted some examples today.

The controversy over the shape is very interesting. In all honesty, I'm with Maia C here - the tail should be wrapped around the body.

I'm going to have a lot of fun looking at all these adorable loafs!

Thanks again!

I just sent this video:

Amber, upset because she can't go outside by Hairlover
. It may not be a true catloaf. Please feel free to delete. No hard feelings.
