About Kinson Common

Kinson Common is a Local Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest in Kinson which is situated in the north of Bournemouth. Dorset. England
Although only approx 40 acres ( 16 hectares) in size and situated in an urban environment the site has a rich and varied habitat with 3 species of Orchid present.
The Common also has a rich history and includes 2 Bronze Age Barrows ( 1 Bowl and 1 Saucer). Small flint implements from the Neolithic and Bronze Age have been found on the Common in the past.
In November 2005, 4 Shetland cattle were introduced to the site for conservation purposes.

I hope this group will show how rich and varied the habitat of this site is.
