About Kinetic Photography

kinetic \ki*net"ic\ (k[i^]*n[e^]t"[i^]k or k[-i]*n[e^]t"[i^]k),
a. [Gr. kinhtiko`s, from kinei^n to move.] (Physics)
Moving or causing motion; motory; active, as opposed to latent.
[1913 Webster]

kinetic energy
n : the mechanical energy that a body has by virtue of its motion [syn: K.E.]

DESCRIPTION

This is a BROAD GROUP that defines the genre where any camera motion derived from physics is acceptable. Do not hold your camera directly, but you can do anything else that involves camera motion reacting to forces applied to it.

Kinetic photography is actually an even broader concept than this, but by forcing you to separate yourself from the camera guarantees that the subject, in part, becomes the motion. A pure example of kinetic photography, preserving the element of chance that makes the process more fun.

Held your camera? Contribute to the share other kinetic photography thread.

For a narrower and possibly more rewarding subset of kinetic photography, see Camera Toss, which actually inspired this broader genre.
EXAMPLES (possibilities are endless)
1. hold the wrist strap and shake it like mad
2. bounce it from a bungee cord
3. swing it from a pendulumn
4. drop it down a slide on the playground
5. put it on continuous drive and place it on a trampoline
6. sit it back down on a table and spin it.

etc etc... you get the idea, experiment to your hearts content. Fore more ideas read the examples thread.

Technically any handheld severe camera motion shot is also within the definition of "kinetic photography", but those are the overdone variety and there are plenty of groups out there for those!

POOL RULES
[NEW] 1per person per day limit, you may cycle them out as you make new ones. I may change this limit.

To help provide attribution to the ideas of this group, if you desire, please include a link in your photo description.

Descriptions of the kinetic action, how the camera was given motion, is a very nice thing to include.
