In June 2008, Kier Street Services took over LB Waltham Forest's street cleaning. Since then theyve sacked all the agency staff (half the workforce) while complaints have doubled since they took over.

The residents of Walthamstow are now living with Kier's appalling service. Bags of rubbish are left for days while foxes rip open the bags spreading waste all over streets.

The council gave Kier the contract to save money, but the people of Walthamstow are learning the true cost - a dirty borough, while council tax bills remain the same.

The Kier contract should be immediately terminated and street cleaning brought back in-house. There should be a decent service for residents and fair treatment for staff.
