About Jonas Sees in Color!
Based in Greensboro, NC, rock band Jonas Sees In Color is vocalist Ryan Downing, guitarists Jonathan Owens and Jonathan Albright, keyboardist Meagan Plummer, bassist Michael Deming, and drummer John Chester.
The band’s name, Jonas Sees In Color, comes from Lois Lowry’s 1993 Newbery Award-winning children’s book, The Giver. When asked about the band’s name, Downing explains "The main character, Jonas, lives in a black and white world and none of the people in his village have memories or emotions. All those things, those very 'human' things, are given to a single person who carries the burden for everyone. Jonas is chosen to be that person and begins to see in color as his eyes are opened to the actual depth of human experience."
