About Bus UK J Fishwick & Sons

John Fishwick & Sons is a bus company based in Leyland, Lancashire,UK. The company operates around the central Lancashire with buses travelling to Chorley in the south and to the city of Preston in the North. JFS are also the major bus operator to the Leyland and South Preston areas. The company also operates coaches for holiday excursions which are operated around the globe.
The company was formed in 1907 when John Fishwick moved from Wales to Leyland to look for business. He started with a steam propelled wagon from the local Leyland Motors factory in Farrington. The vehicle was used to transport goods for local business until 1910 when a second petrol vehicle was bought and converted to a bus were it would be used to ferry passengers from Leyland to nearby Preston.
After WW1 the fleet had expand to more than 30 vehicles transporting people around the local area. During the 50s the haulage side of the business declined until it was disposed of in 1953. The company then focused solely on passenger transport and took over the last local rivals J Singleton coaches. By the 60s the fleet had grown to over 40 buses and 10 coaches.
The company today operates 37 buses and 5 coaches and provides transport around the local area and international coach tours. The company is still based where it was formed on Golden Hill Lane in Leyland.
