About International Youth Camp

The International Youth Camp - a net of friendships among young people and of constant relationships between twinned towns which grows every day since the beginning in 1987.

The International Youth Camp’s aim is to improve communication and co-operation between the towns just to show the differences that separate them and the common ground that unites countries. The Camp is an instrument to widen international exchanges among the youth. It’s also an opportunity of dialogue among different cultures and for young people it’s a chance to get to know each other, form friendships and make new experiences.

Twinned towns are involved in organizing the Camp, and they can count on the financial support of, e.g. the European Comission. A partner town has the organisational strenght and the capability to provide hosting (schools or campings), cultural and sport facilities.

The Camp brings young people together, supplying the possibility to live together, to work in workshops (cultural, sportive or multimedia) and to have a party in an international context and in a friendly atmosphere. Thanks to discovering one’s talents and hidden abilities, doing things together it will enlarge the personal horizon and will strenghten solidarity. Mutual respect is the basis of this social existence - respect towards the individual characteristics of everybody as well as respect towards other ways of living and other traditions.

The Camp is like a “small Europe”, made up by young people with different cultures, languages and religions what enables the participants to find out about their place in the world, to reduce prejudices and to learn intercultural communication and understanding.

Only being open minded to learn to know and to understand other cultures and nations can be the basis of a united Europe.

The International Youth camp is a symbol for young people being able to live together and to share their cultural traditions and their abilities. Therefore it’s also a symbol of the universal values of human dignity, of freedom, eguality and solidarity – these are the guidelines and the basis on which participants will feel themselves as citizens of a common world.
