The Republic of Côte d'Ivoire is a country in West Africa. It borders Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Ghana to the west, north, and east, and borders the Gulf of Guinea to its south. One of the most prosperous of the tropical West African states.
The official capital since 1983 is Yamoussoukro; however, Abidjan remains the administrative center

la Côte d’Ivoire est bordée au sud par l’Océan Atlantique et a comme pays voisins le Ghana à l’est, le Burkina-Faso et le Mali au nord, la Guinée au nord-ouest et le Liberia à l’ouest. La Côte d’Ivoire a une population de 15,4 millions d’habitants dont environ 4 millions d’immigrés notamment originaires du Burkina-Faso et du Mali. Plus de cinquante peuples sont recensés sur le territoire national dont les moeurs et les coutumes varient sensiblement. Les villes principales sont Abidjan, la capitale économique (environ 3 millions d'habitants en 1998), Bouaké (600 000 habitants). Yamoussoukro, capitale politique officielle depuis 1983

Die Elfenbeinküste, die sich offiziell République Côte d'Ivoire nennt, ist ein Staat in Westafrika. Sie grenzt an Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso und Ghana und im Süden an den Atlantik.
Seit 1983 ist Yamoussoukro die offizielle Hauptstadt, die frühere Hauptstadt Abidjan stellt aber weiterhin das wirtschaftliche Zentrum der Elfenbeinküste dar.
