About Endangered Animals

An alarming number of the world's animals are listed as being endangered by the International Union of Conservation and Nature (IUCN). This group aims to promote awareness of those species and present pictures of them, from both the wild and zoo collections.

Note that this group is for threatened animals only, as listed on the IUCN red-list. If you want to check your animal is listed as endangered then you can check it on the red-list at the following address:

Threatened covers Critically Endangered, Endangered and Vulnerable animals, and can also include for the purposes of this group animals that are Extinct in the Wild or Extinct due to human interference. There are plenty of groups on Flickr for pictures of fluffy animals of all descriptions, so unless it's endangered we'll have to remove it from the pool, however nice it is, or however good the photo (regrettably) If you're in any doubt and can't find the animal on the red-list, post it up anyway and don't be offended if we do take it off - it's no comment on the quality of the picture, it's just I want to keep this group solely for the promotion of endangered species.
