I'm posting this here just in case people need a refresher:
1. get busy painting - there are five locations. One piece per location. keep it smaller that 2x2 ft.
(please note: because we have almost 40 artists involved, only one piece per location.)
2. get the paintings wrapped and ready to send.
3. wait for Bonus to send out the five 'nailers' adresses.
4. send between 1feb and 1march
5.watch as the nailers do their thing
6. feel good about the fact people across the world will be enjoying your work
7. brag to your mates down the pub that your work is being simultaniously exhibited across the globe
8. wait for other exciting free art exhibitions!!
9. tell your friends about them
10. watch FAF grow into a phenomenm (sp?)
11. tell everyone you were 'in' on the FAF thing before the rest of the world.
12. Weatherproof yo stuff!
[lacquer, varnish, monkey blood.... what ever]

you can make it a sticker if you'd like... or you can paste it to the back with glue, etc. just print it out ( Melvind's image) and put it on there!
p.s. I printed mine kinda small... i wrote my info on the back of the cardboard but still pasted the flier into it

sweet... we should start a new discussion for the next "big one"
i was also talking to TipToe, and he threw out some ideas, like:
if we did 6 locations, we could half "regional" groups A and B send to whatever locations were closer to cut down on shipping costs, and leave it open for everyone to send everywhere as well.
also, more than 1 piece per artist, with a maximum amount no more than 3 or 4.
ideas? yes? no?
throw 'em out!

this will clearly grow, and here goes my proposal: always try to group by dates, and make it happen simultaneously in various places. It would help coordinate efforts and spread the word more effectively.
We have the Germany one soon and then Australia, Canada and New Orleans coming in June. Lets leave June open for more proposals but try to avoid spreading to other places in May, July, August, ...
We could have, say ... four per year? Open lists so that new locations can be proposed (till like 2 months before it actually happens?) and then leave it for each nailer to decide if they want to define a theme for their site, ...
more than one piece per site, sending just to some places, ... I'm for leaving that open for each artist to decide.

i hear you x10...grouping by dates is the way forward. What made IYTI work was that it was a global event...5 locations worldwide gives the movement more weight...

I had the best time being a nailer and know others will want to be in on that side of the project too.
i know we limited artist numbers this time but with such a high drop off i think we'd do better to open it up to as many as we could and therefore get a decent return.
maybe we should go for 4 a year. five different lcations for each of the four events e.g
date 1 - locations a,b,c,d
date 2 - locations e f g h
date 3 - locations i j k l
Date 4 locations m n o p
that was 16 people get the chance to nail a year!
this goes against my instinct to want to be a nailer everytime - it was just the best thing!
if anyone thinks this is not a good idea and that we should keep southsea as a permanent location i AM NOT going to argue however LOL

I want to do one here in Northern Ireland, June does not suit me as I will be marking exams in May/June.
However August/September before winter sets in would.
I would rather be in a multi city event as I think it has more impact. I also think cardboard is a good medium as it is light and cheaper to post international.
My last post office bill was £51 thats over $100
So I concuoer with the above posts.

i think mds`s idea a very good one.but then in not a contributor of art.
it would be nice to see southsea as a permanent fixture though.
the vibe was soo good there, it would be nice to replicate that again.
if there is to be another in southsea i`ll do some video for it next time, so it can go onto the blog....

X 10, Alice, MDS, Monkey: Yes, Yes, and yes. bless y'all...
1st.
date 1 - locations a,b,c,d
date 2 - locations e f g h
date 3 - locations i j k l
Date 4 locations m n o p
totally agree.
June works, and we should get another location.
you wanna shoot for August, then Nov. or Dec?
2. Because i'm in the same boat as MDS on doing more, but at the same time my USPS bill for last month was INSANE. Did i mention i'm technically below the poverty line? hahahah! ahhhh.. sad but very true!
Let's keep posting here for this discussion...

i like the idea of 16 or so different locations a year to keep it fresh and push the message to all corners...
however...
i also like the idea of IYTI having a 'home'...the southsea drop looked the business and it would be sad not to use it again...
so thats me on the fence...

it would be nice if southsea was the 5th venue for each date?
like i said earlier tho, im not an artist(contributor), so it`ll all depend on whether the contributors can put out enough work for all the 5 venues on all 4 dates.

I'm down for that, but let me throw this out: I have about 3 ideas going that i'd like to do, but wondering if MDS would wanna do every other for the time being.
so, June: MDS
Next one: Bonus
Next one after that: MDS
and so on, and so forth

@Elmo: Brighton would be good, I'd like to see that happen...
I think IYTI should go forward in 2 directions...
+ IYTI exhibitions every 3 months in permanent locations.
+ IYTI world tour exhibitions still every 3 months but in different locations worldwide.
This would give a good balance of spreading the word thru different locations while building on the momentum gathered in the permanent venues like Southsea and Kalamazoo...

I think if there is going to be permanent places then maybe every three months would be too much, perhaps three times a year or maybe the idea is to have two the same and three other cities at the same time? is that the idea?
Would having them in the same place take away the impact??
I have no objections to permanent venues.
I dont really like themes as I think it narrows down the range of art submitted, just my feeling on themes :-).
Are we still limiting the number of artists for each venue?
Oh and cardboard is a great surface as it is lightweight and cheaper to post.

my 2 cents:
Limits: Hell no! it was a dumb idea of mine to begin with ;)
Cardboard: Hell ya!
Themes: let's leave it up to the nailers? I just think it makes life interesting if you have a word or subject thrown out there, but that's just me.
Time line: I'm still in favor of 4 times a year, but i'd really like others input (thanks Monkey and DT) before we make any "final" decisions...

I think there should be no limit to the number of people sending stuff. No need to send everywhere either.
Yep, cardboard is light and easy to fix, so it's probably the best way to go. But it should be up to the artists, always trying to make it as easy as possible for the nailers.
With the themes thing, I like it to be open, a balance of theme-less and themed venues would be perfect. I agree with dogtired, themes sometimes can narrow too much the range to be submitted. Nailers willing to define a theme should try to leave it open enough for different twists and interpretations. Themes like "blue" for germany and "nautic" (fitting the place where they will be nailed) for australia look open enough for me.
I like it to be 4 times a year, but I don't know about having permanent locations ... We can't be sure on how much or how fast will this grow, but having a permanent location already "booked" shouldn't be a limitation for new ones to join. In my opinion spreading the word should be the priority right now.
