you can use ut but you have to do some modifications. 220 film is twice as long as 120 but is the same size roll as 120 because the thick paper backing is removed. if you want to use it in a diana or holga you have to mask off the film counter widow just as you would with 35mm film. this can be a problem because you cant count frames but there are many people who have done the math and you can find resources on the net for how many revolutions to turn the wheel to get to the next frame(and this number of 'clicks' changes as you work your way through the film). i havent tried it so im not sure if its actually worth it.

I have done it, and it works fine. Just keep a little index card with you -- with the sequential number of clicks needed to advance -- and mark each one off as you snap and advance.
I did not tape off the film counter window very well, so I got some cool red light leaks on my 200 film. I have one more roll of 220 so I am going to try again; but overall, may not be worth the effort. Of course, my local camera shop has about 50 rolls of expired 220 for under $1 each. So it might be worth the effort. You decide.

i dont understand what you mean by 'tape off the film counter window'...
to load up the film would i...
1. take off the square slides to make it into panorama mode
2. load up film as usual
3. close the back, leave the film count onto 16
4. estimate how much turn it would take to get to the next shot?

@tan_tayum
think what's gonna happen if you don't cover the film counter window.
220 films don't have a backing paper. that means your film will get exposed to the light coming through the red colored film counter window.
you have to cover (tape off) the window somehow to block the light coming through the window.
@rds3wave
wooooo, i wish i lived in your neighborhood. expired 220 films for 1 dollar each??? i'll get them all.

hey! thanks a lot for the replies 'bobdole369' and '2plus2isfive'! :)
i did some experimentation with one roll and just for everyone else's benefit:
-2/3rd of a turn for the next shot or approx 48 clicks (i just estimated 2/3rd of a turn)
-28 shots in total
- panorama setting
those were my calculations and i didnt get an overlapping and it worked out pretty well considering it's only my 3rd roll in the diana ever haha...
ALSO i didnt tape the back enough (i used white tape) so the back hole exposed in all shots but that's easily fixable in the future. you need to REALLY tape and cover it thickly.
here are the results! www.flickr.com/photos/46230302@N07/sets/72157623164514610/
the last few photos are the 220mm ones. all the photos are really rough because as i said, my first 3 rolls :)

a good way to know how far you turned it is to put a little dot on the turning wheel and a little dot on your camera (these dot's allmost have to touch eathother). now if you turn the wheel you van just put the dot's back together and you will know you had one turn.
also the best way to cover the red window is with aluminium foil. just use construction tape to make sure it stays in place.

Hi guys, I loaded 220 in the holga and went off shooting in Laos. Didn't know you had to cover the back window though. As you can see in my pics has a nice red square centre stage. Kinda cool tho. As for the amount of clicks Squarefrog.com has a detailed chart. For my next attempt (no red squares) i loaded the numbers into my cheap phone under tasks and deleted each number as i used it. I'm prone to forget which number photo I'm up to:)
