About It's not about the gear...
It's not (all) about the gear...
We all like photographic gear.
Beautifully made, precision components, polished surfaces, buttons that operate with a satisfying 'click'. What's not to like?
But long before computers got involved photography was accomplished with some quite rudimentary equipment that just wouldn't cut it in today's high-tech, pixel peeping world.
This group is dedicated to shooters who have made and continue to make photographs with old, outdated and frankly (by current standards) rubbish camera equipment, and regularly produce stunning images that would leave the average tech head gobsmacked with amazement.
It doesn't exist to bash those people who are inspired to buy all the latest and greatest digital gear in the hope that it will make them better photographers. What I hope to do is inspire photographers into taking better pictures with less than cutting edge technology.
Don’t forget to add a description of what you used to take the shot – especially if your kit is sans EXIF data.
So go on, don't be embarrased, publish your photos that have been taken with less than suitable equipment, (but produced fantastic results) let's discuss the megapixel myth, and debunk the fantasy that one has to buy the latest and greatest to produce the best.
Meanwhile, I'm off to buy some new gear....
