About In the Water Closet
I like taking self-portraits in public bathroom because it feels silly to take photos in a public loo. It feels even sillier when I try to take a serious shot, which is how this game started.
One night I stumbled into the restroom of a local establishment. The colors of the walls and the lighting made me wonder if I could take a tasteful shot of myself in one of the most commonly tasteless places. I liked the way the shot turned out, I decided to make it a game.
At first, I tried to hide what I was doing. It felt weird explaining the project. After doing it a few times, I didn't care. However, the game lost some of it's fun. That's when I decided to purposely take the shots when no one was looking.
It's fun, and people wonder what you are up to... if they notice anything at all.
If you want to play along, tag your photo "WCportrait" and post it to this group.
I try to keep it to one portrait to bathroom visited (although some bathrooms are more fun than others), but you may play anyway you like.
So remember:
**The shots must be taken quickly and unnoticed by other WC visitors.
**In order to be considered public, the restroom must be - at the very least - available to patrons of the establishment.
**Private restrooms become public when there is a large festive party in the house.
**Use any kind of camera available. Your activity, however, must go unnoticed by other WC patrons.
**The outcome must be playful, artistically interesting or just plain silly. Most importantly, all shots must be tasteful.
