About In the Future Postcards

Sending and receiving postcards between 1907 and 1915 were the equivalent to the text-messaging communication phenomenon of today. A particular genre from the early 1900s was the "In the Future" postcard. These postcards tended to be both somewhat futuristic and satirical depictions of how various cities, towns, and villages would appear in the future given changes in technology, most notably technological changes in the field of transportation.

A variety of publishers produced "In the Future" postcards. The vast majority of these postcards focused on population centers located in the Northeastern United States, though numerous postcards exist for locations outside this region (e.g., Midwest, Plains States, West).

Please add any "In the Future" postcards or similar-themed postcards you may have to this group. Add descriptions such as location, publisher, date of postmarks, etc.
