For those few people who are not yet familiar with Interrailing: InterRail exists since 1972. It's a flexible and fun way to discover Europe by rail. With an InterRail Pass you can hop on and off as many trains as you like as long as your Pass is valid. Mind this: some trains need an advance reservation.

In the past there was a zone system, now you can choose from the Global Pass (valid in 30 countries) or a One Country Pass (choose from 27 countries).
