In the Twin Cities, Minnesota, (USA) National Camera is probably the best known photo retailer in town. They carry a very complete selection of film. They have a number of stores around the cities. I will visit the Roseville store and purchase some Professional film. I'll also hit my local Wal-Mart and buy a couple rolls of the Consumer film that they carry.
I like the idea of letting the retailer know, and thanking them for continuing to stock film.
Another suggestion- Possibly make a flyer and mail / email to some of these suppliers letting them know of International Film Buying Day. They might play along and give those of us that mention IFBD a discount.

I'm either going to buy from www.freestylephoto.biz/ or www.japanexposures.com/shop/ to get some Fuji Acros sheet film.
Fuji discontinued the quickload version of Acros sheet film, and replaced it with less expensive and more standard sheet film. At first you could only get the standard sheet film at Japan Exposures, but now I can get it more locally.
No local brick and mortar shops carry what I want.

I usually get it from Beau Photo here in town. But why not spread the love around? I don't understand the suggestion to buy, on Oct 1, from small retailers in preference to larger chains. The small specialist shops will stock film anyway and the larger chains might be wavering. I think I'll get some from Beau ad also some from Kerrisdale Cameras, who also sell 120 film. And maybe go see what Lens and Shutter has. Kurt

SRS Microsystems, Rayners Lane, Harrow, Middlesex, England.
Fantastic shop, and one of the last of its kind I've encountered. Old and new equipment is supported, and it'd be a great shame if they were to close down.

L. L. Lozeau, Montréal, Canada. They still sell at least Neopan, Agfa (overstock), Kodak, Ilford, Fuji... and darkroom products. Probably also at least another store in Montréal still sell films.

Since all local photography shops (1 :-) ) stopped stocking 120 film years ago i have to buy on the internetmarket.
My favourite supplier for Fujifilm is jaz-uk on ebay :
stores.shop.ebay.nl/The-Photographic-Shop__W0QQ_armrsZ1
Maybe it is possible to ask him for a 1st October discount.
If we don't ask discount some of these big internet suppliers will surely raise their prices just for that day and make a nice shortterm profit on our Film Buying Commitment :-) :-)

The only photography shops I can buy film is Jessops or London Camera Exchange, Supermarket is Asda (Wal Mart) and Boots. Jessops keep a good range of 120 and 35mm film but always best to check online for stock at a good price too:-

Many of the comments on this discussion show that even small specialists are moving away from certain types of film. The more that do this, the harder it is to get and the more likely manufacturers are to stop producing it as they believe no one wants it. Plus, it's about small specialists getting our money rather than large chains. Of course, the choice is yours.

Anyone have suggestions for NYC? And not just Manhattan. I know and trust Adorama, but I'd like to buy from a smaller player. A & S Photo recently closed and will move to a nearby location at the end of August. Do they have a good reputation?

It seems from the comments that a lot of us no longer have local independant Camera shops near us. The last one in my area closed down last year. Although I dont think it has anything to do with film sales, they just cant compete on prices with the large stores that sell cheap digital camera's. Its the same no matter what you sell these days all the small shop's being driven away by large multi-national supermarkets and electrical stores.

NYC? Probably one of the largest retailers: B&H Photo/Video (http://bhphotovideo.com). I don't know any other small guys. B&H is Jewish owned and operated, so they won't be open on Saturdays, Hanukkah, and certain other holidays. They may be in Brooklyn, but they are very reputable and I continue to do business with them even here in VA.

I envy people with local retailers. I can't buy 120 film in Alkmaar. At all.
I will either have to go to Amsterdam on October 1st, to S-Color forinstance, or I will place an order at macodirect.de. They will process it same-day anyhow; they're excellent like that..

Thanks Photo.mi7ch just might of saved my day as I was trying to find Kodak here in the UK. I didn't realise it was that hard to find 120 film in the UK, without resorting to e-bay. Now to my shopping list! I'll also clean out Jessops here in Edinburgh..won't be hard only have a few boxes in stock.
UK: Found someone else noticeable cheaper

Best I can do here (mid Iowa) is the Walgreens drugstore, as far as I know. Certainly not independent, but it is a place you can walk in off the street and buy some 35mm film.

I'll probably be using B&H online since the local Penn Camera shop is WAY too rich for my blood. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/153916-REG/Ilford_1839575_...
It might be a good idea to remind your friends. I did this by inviting them to join the group and added a brief message about buying film day.

I guess being in Portland, Oregon is a blessing. Here's the short list, just off the top of my head:
Blue Moon Camera and Machine (top notch)
www.bluemooncamera.com
Citizen's Photo (Another top notch business)
www.citizensphoto.com/
The Shutterbug (mostlyl digital - some used gear, good TXP price!)
www.theshutterbugonline.com
Camera World (almost completely digital, but still selling film)
www.cameraworld.com
Wolf/Ritz camera (Almost all digital- still selling film though)
www.ritzcamera.com/
The last two stores i feel like a pariah in - i ask for Tri-X or Delta, or any B&W chemistry and they look at me like I just staggered in from my UFO's crash landing. I never crash - but I have double-parked it a couple of times. That's not the point, though. Only reason to buy from these two is that they are giants - and carry a lot of clout. If they stop doing film, it will be bad.
