About Interestingness - Top 500 (READ THE RULES!)

Your photo made it to Flickr's Explore pages for interestingness and you want the world to know. The photo may not have made #1 or even have been in the top 10, but it did make the top 500!



Quick rules summary
1. Mandatory group tag - i500
2. Ranking tag - interestingness# where # = ranking
3. No more than 2 per day; total over time unlimited.
4. Anything found without ranking tag that cannot be verified using Scout will be removed from the group pool.

1 - Find your photos

You can find your photos that "made it" by using fd's Scout.

You can post your Explore Posters to the Scout Posters group.

Mandatory tag(s)
Group tag - At the request of members who don't want to tag or track the rank of their photos then use i500 to tag your photos. However, if your photo drops off the Top 500 it will be removed from the photo pool unless it also has a tag with the interestingness rank.

Rank tag - To work with the other interestingness groups please tag your photos with interestingness# with # being the highest rank your photo has reached, and you can change the tag if your photo climbs higher, eg., interestingness163.

Optional tag
Explore date tag - You could tag your photo with the interestingness date exploreDDMONYY, eg., explore7Oct05 (idea from bc anna).

For those who would like easier sorting for the date tag, the format exploreYYYYMMDD has been suggested [by DrgnMastr].

The Explore date is usually the same as the date the photo was uploaded so is pretty much irrelevant.

If you haven't tagged your photo and it can't be found via Scout, then your photo will be removed from the pool. Please be forgiving of errors, as admins are only human, and resubmit your photo with tags.

The admins may also add tags to your photos at their discretion if a higher ranking can be confirmed at the time of the pool sweep.

Although submission to this pool is unlimited, provided your photos satisfy the criteria of having been in the Top 500, our group settings only allow a maximum of 2 per day to give others a chance to shine.

Your photo will then be added to the moderation queue and the admin team will check your image and tags before it appears in the group pool. Images not meeting the group criteria will be removed from the queue.

Post only individual photos and make sure they have been tagged. Untagged photos and explore posters will be removed, but you can join Scout Posters and share your posters there. Mosaics are only permitted if they have achieved interestingness as an individual image and have been tagged with the rank, otherwise share them in the Photo Mosaics group.

If your photo should later drop off the Top 500 it can still remain in the group pool, however the only way admins can "verify" it was in the Top 500 is if you have tagged it with the rank - interestingness#.

Consider introducing yourself to the group.
Invite your friends.
Discuss the group guidelines and how the group functions.
Visit other members photos and leave interesting comments.
Which of your photos have ended up being one day wonders, or steady climbers, or even yo-yoed on and off explore? And what about the magic #500's which you can share in this thread and maybe we can bump them up ;-)
