Shoot film for old time sakes - Meetup Idea

view profile

PK Koduri  Pro User  says:

Is anyone interested in a meetup where we just use film cameras (manual, automatic, and rangefinders) and nothing else. I will even develop the film if you would like for a low $5.00 a roll of Black and White film :-).

I am thinking about sometime in July not necessarily as a supplementary to the official monthly meetup.

Date: July 12
Time: 6:00PM
Location: IMA

How much you charge for scanning 120/220 film ? :-)

diong - I sure can help you ther :-). I can scan up to 4800 dpi I think which results in a 300-500MB file per frame. If you provide your own DVD media I can do it for $10/roll. I use a Canoscan 8600F for MF and a Coolscan 4000 for 35mm. Let me know if you are interested.

Would Polaroid instant film be allowed?

I've been considering loading some film into an old Yashica TLR that I've only used for ttv shots so far. Something like this might provide the right opportunity.

Also -- I've been counting on using my digital to help me calculate proper exposures if/when I try the film route on the Yashica. Would that be "allowed?" If not, perhaps one of you could help me figure out how to figure the proper exposures?

I have a hard time getting to meets, so don't count on me, but I'd be interested if the timing worked out.

Jeremy - I have a spare light meter that I can let you borrow for the day. Polaroid is fine too since there are no do overs once you are done :-D I would love to see your Yashica, heard great things about it.

I'd be interested in getting together for a film shoot sometime in July.

I should have a Canon 1N being delivered later today by UPS. It's "officially" for a class our daughter is taking this year in high school, but I have to test it out before I hand it off to her. :)

I'm interested. I've been itching to shoot with my Reflex II now that I have a light meter and an Argus C3 should be on my front porch soon.

I got my new (old) camera about an hour ago. It's nice. :)

It's got a 50 mm f/1.4 lens on it and a roll of film in it. I need to read up on it and go out shooting tomorrow. And July 12 at the IMA works for me.

July 12th is KILLING me. There are three or four events happening that night that I really want to do, but we'll be headed to Michigan that weekend.

Please, don't try to change it on my account -- I doubt I'd be able to make any other date this month anyway. Maybe next time.

Grrr...

The Canon 1N that I got arrived DOA. It won't shoot. I've cleaned every electrical contact I can reach, tried 2 different fresh batteries and 3 lenses and it keeps giving a "bc" error indicating something needs service. So I'm waiting on a return authorization from B&H.

I'm still planning on making this, I'll just be using my old Pentax Spotmatic. I'll probably need to borrow a light meter, along with some directions on how to use it, since the light meter on the Pentax is really flaky.

Where exactly are we planning on meeting? The IMA grounds cover a lot of ground.

How about 6 pm at the Love statue?

It's looking unlikely that I will make it Sunday. But if I ever do make it to a meet up, I'll always be shooting film.

BTW I have a Coolscan 8000 and a Glass Carrier if you need high res scans for your MF negatives. It is much better than the crummy scans I was getting with Canoscan 8600F. I just uploaded a scan from it to my photostream.
