About Indiana's Historic Michigan Road

The Michigan Road was Indiana's first state-funded highway, built in the 1830s to link Madison on the Ohio River, to the new capital Indianapolis, to Lake Michigan at what is now Michigan City.

The road still exists and is driveable end to end today. It roughly follows US 421 and old US 421 to and through Indianapolis, then State Road 29 to Logansport, State Road 25 to Rochester, Old US 31 to just north of Plymouth, US 31 and Business 31 to South Bend, then US 20, US 35, and US 12 to Michigan City.

Please share photos from on and near the road itself. As a general rule, if it's within 1,000 feet of the road, it's a good candidate for this group!
