About Inauguration 2009

Join the world in commemorating the Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama. Whether you're attending the event or witnessing it from afar, please share a photo taken that day for the world to see. Photos added to this group may be displayed or featured on our parent site, Yahoo!.

We'll be showing photos in this group on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009 at a Washington DC-area Flickr meetup. If you are in the area, please come by to say hello! We'll also be featuring Election Day photos on a Kodak digital photo frame wall.

We also encourage you to submit your photo to be considered for click! photography changes everything, a Smithsonian Photography Initiative online program that explores how photography shapes the way we understand the world. The current call for entry, ‘History in the Making,’ looks at how photography has influenced the recent elections and inauguration. The Smithsonian is our partner on the Flickr Commons and has just posted additional historic photos of past inaugurations.
